As you may know, Meals on Wheels focuses on caring for individuals whose diminished mobility makes it hard to shop for food, prepare meals or socialize with others. Nost Meals on Wheels clients are elderly, but some participants are younger.
When the program began (there are versions all across the country) some of the delivery people were noticing their clients were sharing their limited food resources with their pets. This meant that neither the human nor the animal was getting the nutrition they needed.
AniMeals provides a week's worth of food for a Meals on Wheel's client so that the human and the pets get appropriate nutrition for their health.
Food is packed each Saturday by volunteers at the Pet Project (a perfect project for our youngest volunteers!) and then Meals on Wheels staffers deliver the food with the first delivery of the week.
